A Manifesto
Indian education does not need to be fixed.
It needs to be freed.
A short note on why Sahayak exists, what we are betting on, and what we will not do.
Thepremise.
India has the largest private education market in the world. Seventy million students study in coaching institutes and private tuition. Their parents spend ₹3 lakh crore a year. Their teachers work 60-hour weeks. Their owners run businesses on Excel sheets and WhatsApp groups.
Every major Indian edtech of the last decade tried to replace this system. Byju's, Unacademy, Vedantu, Physics Wallah. Some succeeded as brands. None of them replaced the local institute. The local institute is too important. Too trusted. Too embedded.
The local institute is not the problem. The work the local institute does is the problem. Operational labor crushes good teachers into mediocre administrators. The best teachers in India spend 70% of their week filling out forms.
Sahayak does the operational work. Teachers teach. Owners run their institutes. Parents stay informed. That is the whole product.
Fivethingsweholdtrue.
The local institute is the unit of education in India.
Not the app. Not the marketplace. Not the YouTube channel. The local institute is where a child goes after school, where a teacher recognizes him by name, where a parent shows up to ask why he failed the last unit test. That trust is the asset.
Anything we build either strengthens that trust or weakens it. We will only build things that strengthen it.
Software shows the work. Agents do the work.
Every ERP ever built shows you a beautifully formatted version of the work you still have to do yourself. Fee reminders to send. Attendance to mark. Parents to call back. Reports to file.
We are not building a better dashboard. We are building a team of agents that finish the work and tell you they finished. The dashboard is the receipt, not the product.
Parents deserve to know what is happening with their child.
Most Indian parents pay for coaching with money they do not have. They get vague WhatsApp updates twice a year. They have no idea if it is working.
Sahayak sends parents real updates in their own language. What their child studied this week. What she struggled with. Whether the fee they are paying is buying actual progress. This single change shifts the relationship between parents and institutes from suspicion to partnership.
If the AI cannot do it in Hindi, it cannot do it.
Ninety percent of Indian parents are more comfortable in their first language than in English. Every Sahayak agent works in Hindi by default, and in Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Punjabi, Odia, and Malayalam by configuration.
We use Sarvam's voice models because they were built for Indian voices, not adapted from American ones. The difference is audible in the first sentence.
Teachers should teach.
Every founder who has talked to a teacher in the last decade has heard the same complaint. There is no time to teach. The whole week is meetings, parent calls, photocopying, scheduling, grading, marking.
If a teacher we serve does not get back at least eight hours a week to actually teach, we have failed. That is the only metric that matters for the product. Everything else is downstream.
“Bachhe ko padhao. Baaki sab Sahayak karega.”
Teach the child. Sahayak will handle the rest.
Our promise to every institute owner.
Whatwerefusetodo.
Sahayak will never compete with the institutes we serve. We will not launch our own coaching brand. We will not poach their students. We will not sell their data. The institute is the customer. Forever.
Sahayak will not replace teachers with AI tutors. The doubt-solving agent exists to handle the questions teachers cannot answer at 11 PM. It does not exist to handle the questions teachers should be answering in class. The difference matters.
Sahayak will not pressure children. No streaks, no leaderboards, no manipulative engagement loops. Indian children are already under enough pressure. We add nothing to that. Every Kota suicide is partly our industry's responsibility. We will not be part of the next one.
Sahayak will not sell out the operating system. The data flowing through Sahayak (student performance, parent communication, fee patterns) is not a product. It belongs to the institute. We do not aggregate it. We do not monetize it. We do not share it with anyone, including investors.

The Viral Fever
A short trailer on the human cost of India's coaching industry. We do not romanticize this system. We are trying to give it back to the people who care.
Thebet.
India will not be saved by a unicorn edtech brand. It will be strengthened by 70,000 strong local institutes, each running an operating system that handles their work, talks to their parents, and lets their teachers actually teach.
That is the bet. That the future of Indian education is not centralized but distributed. Not branded but local. Not flashy but real.
If this resonates, come work with us. If you run an institute, let us run your operations. If you are a parent reading this, ask your child's institute if they have heard of Sahayak.
